God Really Does Love His People

When ever I read what the prophets said, in the past, it sounded to me like God was not a very loving God. He sounded like all he was doing was condemning them and threatening them with all kinds of calamity, no mention of any Love.

I was reading Jeremiah a few days ago and I noticed He sounded more like a loving Father who was disappointed in the way His children were ignoring Him and making Gods out of wood and other things to worship instead of Him. They no longer tried to please Him but would follow their own desires and ignore His commands to not do the things He knew to be bad for them. God commanded Jeremiah to go and shout the warning to the Jewish people to warn them that He sees what they are doing and that disaster will be coming to get them to repent and ask forgiveness. That's all He wants them to do is stop doing the things He has told them not to do and ask Him to forgive them. But they refused to listen to the prophets and even killed them to shut them up. They would say that none of these things will happen and would go on sinning. What God was trying to do is get them to stop. He didn't want to cause harm to them. But He can't be around and ignore the sinful things they enjoyed doing because that would be condoning it.

God has been striving with his people through out history. He has even let things happen but still they wont repent and humble themselves and ask Him to forgive them then stop doing those things God has commanded people not to do. I am repeating myself here and that is what God does as long as He can because He doesn't want to punish anyone. His patience is long suffering but then He finally has to do what He says. Read any of the books in the Bible that prophets wrote and you will see time after time he sends them to warn the people what He will do if they wont obey Him. But they wont listen and go on with their idolatry and lust and sexual sin. Murdering, and robbing, you name it they do it.
